Erratum - Article: A Dialogue about science, Reality, and the Consciousness (JofC no. 36 and 37)

Editor’s Foreword

This edition of the JofC, is the first published issue of the eleventh volume thus bringing to mind the recent celebration of the Journal of Conscientiology’s 10 year anniversary. Below are some remarks on the history and achievements of the Journal in the last decade.

The opening article refers to a method of self-study proposed by Carlos and Margarete Lucena. The authors present a technique to improve self-observation and identification of one’s personality traits via the analysis of thosenic behavior found or manifested by the individual in his/her daily job assignments. They argue that this may favor a more accurate detection of one’s personal strong and weak traits, which, in turn, would allow for the acceleration of one’s consciential maturation process.

Following a similar theme, the second article, by Pilar Alegre, addresses the value and complexity of expanding lucid, accurate and productive self-knowledge. Alegre stresses the importance of using the Conscientiogram book as a tool to aid in the attainment of such a goal. In her article, the author mentions her experience as a regular member of a study group on the Conscientiogram and reports how, in her view, the presence of penta practitioners in groups such as this can be helpful to ensure a more unbiased approach is followed in the analysis of the text.

In his article about thosenic rectilinearity, Luiz Fernando Antunes discusses the concept imbued in this expression. He presents some possible methods to identify lack of thosenic rectilinearity as well as techniques aiming to improve this condition, if this is found to be present in one’s manifestation.

Marcelo Rouanet presents us with a thorough study of six mentalsomatic attributes, which he considers to be key in allowing one take control of his/her own evolution, and which are also present in clarification task work. In this study, Rouanet approaches factors such as cultural, educational, and environmental influences that could hinder or facilitate the manifestation of the attributes being studied.

An interesting experience undergone by Rodrigo Guedes, in which he senses the passing of his uncle, is relayed in this issue in the Personal Account section.

It is customary for the JofC editorial board to print, from time to time, the glossary of expressions used in conscientiology studies, as we hope this measure will assist readers in following the discussions presented in this journal.

So, in addition to the above mentioned works, we are publishing in this issue the glossary of conscientiological terms in English, aiming to encourage and facilitate new subscribers to examine and debate the ideas presented in this journal. Soon the Spanish version of the glossary will also be published for this purpose.

Since July 1998, when it was launched, the JofC has striven to be an unbiased, accessible, open forum for discussion of themes related to the scientific study of the consciousness beyond ordinary physical manifestation. We are proud to say that, in the last decade, authors affiliated to 32 institutions and universities from around the world have had the opportunity to publish in this vehicle of communication.

As a result of its maturation, from issue No. 29 onwards, besides the publication of the English/Spanish edition, the JofC also has a Portuguese edition, which is printed simultaneously with the original edition.

Today, as part of the JofCscientific periodical exchange program’, thirteen distinguished organizations and universities based in Argentina, Australia, England, Italy, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Uruguay and USA receive a copy of each issue of the journal, for their library.

A total of 379 works by 274 authors have been published, totaling 7,143 pages.

The JofC team will maintain their efforts so that the publication can grow and adapt to new times and demands, continuing, therefore, to play its role as a catalyst and promulgator of leading-edge relative ideas.

Finally, we must conclude by saying that a great deal of the success of the JofC is also due to its team of peer-reviewers, translators, language revisers, desktop publishers, administrators, and editors. As of June 2008 (the last quarter) the team was composed of 46 people from 9 countries. Since then, several valuable additions to the team were made. We would like to congratulate the whole team on this accomplishment and thank them for their contribution.

Self-Research in the Context of Professional Activities

Zilda Margarete S. de Lucena & Carlos Alberto S. de Lucena

ABSTRACT: Professional environments have proven to be an excellent lab for the development of a research targeting self-knowledge. Via the analysis of the different activities we perform in our professional life, it is possible to identify traits of our personality, analyze the quality of our interpersonal postures, and perfect our strong traits, envisaging the process of maturity and evolution. In this article we list fourteen activities in the area of zoological taxonomy and their respective strong and weak traits. Based on our experience, we introduce a methodology for self-analysis – an incentive not only to all taxonomy biologists interested in starting their self-research, but also to any other professional, given the proper adjustment in the methodology.

ABSTRACT: In addition to offering a more in-depth study of the neologism ‘thosenic rectilinearity’, this article introduces instances in which a lack of this attribute is present. The consequences from this condition is also addressed, so that readers may choose to invest in the paraprophylaxis of this condition or, if they find themselves in a situation where thosenic rectinearity is missing, they may utilize a technique suggested in this article aiming to facilitate a greater level of cosmovision – a consequence of continued thosenic rectilinearity.

Mentalsomatic Attributes for Consciential Evolution

Marcelo Rouanet

ABSTRACT: This paper analyzes six mentalsomatic attributes – intellectuality, logic, culture, scholarship, polymathy, and wisdom – allowing a consciousness to both use and develop the same, while simultaneously aiming at personal and societal evolution through the clarification of consciousnesses. Therefore cultural, educational, and environmental factors that either impede or facilitate the use of the six mentalsomatic attributes addressed, like clarification task, ideologies, specialization, and technology, are confronted and examined as well.

Assistance in Desoma and Confirmed Extraphysical Meeting

Rodrigo Guedes

Pre-projective Considerations:

The projection here narrated took place in the middle of 2002. On that day I had just arrived from the hospital where I went to visit my uncle “Alca", who had terminal cancer. I didn’t know how I would find him in the hospital, and this is why I was surprised to see my uncle’s body almost deactivated.

During the time I remained in the hospital I worked with energies, especially with exteriorization, always striving to connect with helpers with the purpose of assisting my uncle to desomate (deactivate the biological body).

I went out from the hospital at 11:30am together with my evolutionary duo partner, feeling tranquil and serene.

After lunch, at around 2pm, I laid down with my partner and slept. Before sleeping I mentally focused on the intention to assist my uncle extraphysically.

Projective Report:

Body position: Lying down on my back (dorsal decubitus)
State: Peace and serenity
Sleep duration: around half-hour

I woke up out of the soma in a room that looked like the hospital room where I found myself some hours earlier, although now it seemed empty. The room was extremely white and bright. I looked to the bed and it was empty. I turned my attention to the room corner and there I found my uncle, huddled in the corner with a disorientated and fearful expression. He wore the hospital clothes and was sitting with his legs crossed and eyes open wide.

I received a mental instruction to start exteriorizing energies towards him. It was at this moment that I noticed that I was not alone and was brought there, although I could not “see" who was around.

I started exteriorizing energies towards my uncle and kept doing it for a long time until I suddenly returned to my body.

Post-projective considerations:

I woke up with the phone ringing. Before answering it I already knew what it was.

It was my mother telling me that my uncle had deactivated his body. I woke up my partner and told her the experience.

The assistance I had made outside the body did not leave me with any type of negative repercussion. I woke up peaceful and serene as I went to bed. I had the clear sensation of the helper’s presence during the whole time.

Correspondence

To the Editor:

Ref.: Review of the “Proposal and Exploration of Three Neologisms Related to Thosenology, Cosmoethics and Holosomatics" authored by Martin Azambuya.

The ICNEO (International Council of Neologistics) expresses, through this letter, their opinion regarding the terms proposed in Martin Azambuya’s article, published in the Journal of Conscientiology No. 40 (2008). Such opinion is based on the Criteria for Creating and Evaluating Neologisms, published in the Journal of Conscientiology No. 33 (2006), which will be referred to as Criteria.

ICNEO would like to emphasize that it considers Azambuya’s initiative in creating useful neologisms for conscientiological research a positive one. It is recommended that the proposed terms be revised in a technical-scientific way for them to be effectively considered conscientiological neologisms.

The first term, Lying and deformation of truth with self-promotional intentionality – LDSPI, reveals itself as an ample and clarifying research topic, presenting characteristics of a leading-edge relative truth. Through the argumentation constructed in the text, it suggests a syndrome or a group of signals and symptoms. It is, however, a theme too extensive to be considered a neologism. The acronym proposed, LDSPI, according to the evaluation of the council, does not represent the proposed idea. In this sense, the Criteria state the following:

Concision: The neologism will follow the principle of linguistic economy, which avows the maximal possible concision for a word. Simple words instead of composite expressions or complex terminological syntagmas are always preferred. Consider the level of excellence of the neological synthesis. Examples: thosene; confor, JLP (joint lucid projections); VS (vibrational state) (Freire, Pinheiro, Wojslaw, JofC No. 33, 2006, p. 33).

For this reason, it is suggested that the theme lying and deformation of truth with self-promotional intentionality be substituted for another term that is more synthesized and technical. Another suggestion to Azambuya is that the definition of the term be revised in order to create a more clear text, since he mentioned ‘when’ the problem occurs, and did not define this clearly. It is suggested that a definition be created that is coherent with the exact expression of the idea.

In regards to the second term proposed, falssistance (false assistance), morphologically it is appropriate, because it was formed by the prefix fal (fail), referring to failed, erroneous or false assistance. However, it was observed that the term does not represent the amplitude of the idea that Azambuya is referring to, according to the arguments constructed in the text. Again, it is cited that, according to the stated linguistic principles in the Criteria:

Both the signifier and signified in the term being proposed must be coherent with the accurate expression of the ideas translated by the neologism (motivated creation). The terminological precision achieved by the created word, or its form, should be analyzed as to whether it in fact represents the concept, or content, to be mapped, according to the standard conscientiological significance. (Freire, Pinheiro, Wojslaw, JofC No. 33, 2006, p. 32).

The term falssistance, in summary, seems to refer to the illusion of a false hetero-assistance due to the secondary gains of the supposed assistant. In this case, we can suggest the usage of the term illusory (or inappropriate, or inadequate or undesired) hetero assistance. Any of these are closer in meaning to the proposal in the text. It was observed, still, that the definition of this term was prolix, as it was presented by the proposer, making understanding difficult; greater concision is suggested. The ideas presented by Azambuya, in exposing this theme are relevant and demonstrate study on the gradations of self-research which can be deepened through personal investments.

For the third term, self-falssistance, which refers to false self-assistance, the evaluations and criteria above are valid.

We therefore thank Azambuya for his initiative, for the leading-edge relative truths and the association of ideas developed.

It is also intended, through this letter, to once again disseminate the work of this Council, which has been promoting a series of measures with the goal of overseeing the terminology of the science of conscientiology. The ICNEO is open to receiving proposals of neologisms from researchers interested in submitting them to ICNEO for reviewing and opinion.
