IIPC Addresses
Editors’ Foreword
As editors of the Journal we encourage authors
to avoid excessive use of technical language in an attempt
to make the ideas and information published in the Journal
more readily available to a multi-disciplinary audience; however,
conscientiological terms, as well as technical terms from
other areas, are inevitably found in the texts. In the interest
of clarity we are, therefore, republishing the glossary of
Conscientiology in this issue. We hope this glossary will
support those unfamiliar with conscientiological terms, stimulate
debates of the ideas presented here, and encourage more readers
to write and submit contributions to the JC.
In this issue, we are pleased to present you
with three very interesting major works and equally engaging
smaller works. The discussion on Revivalism by Málu
Balona will give us a broader perspective on the progress
of humanity’s knowledge, while the study on Serenology
and Evolution by Jane Lloyd will tease our minds to jump beyond
the physical evolutionary approach. Brooke Gordon’s
work supports the theory of the connection between the pineal
gland and the non-physical body, which provokes further thoughts
and discussions regarding psychic abilities.
To promote further consciousness research,
the IIPC is planning an International Conference on the second
half of 2001 in New York. Researchers are invited to submit
their papers to the IIPC NY Office for this event.
Please remember that you can read all abstracts
of previous JC editions at the Journal section of the IIPC

The Development of Serenity as Part of the Progression to
Serenism
Jane Lloyd
ABSTRACT: This article discusses the relevance
of researching and actively developing serenity as an essential
step towards greater personal maturity and human evolution
(Serenism). This evolutionary progression toward Serenism
requires the deepening of understanding of the complexities
of the psychosoma (emotions) as well as the multidimensionality.
The author compares and contrasts the current perspectives
on serenity and research findings on serenity within the field
of psychology, to those of the science of Conscientiology.
The credible and documented identification of the most evolved
human consciousnesses (Homo sapiens serenissimus) by lucid
projectors, and the subsequent study of their most distinguishing
trait, serenity, have provided practical and applicable tools
for the analysis and development of that beneficial evolutionary
trait. The philosophical basis and application of the study
of Serenism has far-reaching effects for consciousnesses in
our currently predominately Preserene society.
RESUMO: Este artigo discute a relevância
humana (serenismo). Esta progressão evolutiva rumo
ao serenismo requer o aprofundamento da compreensão
das complexidades do psicossoma (emoções)
como também a multidimensionalidade. A autora
A identificação
A base filosófica e a aplicação do estudo

Revivalism: The Historical Curves of the Evolutionary Spiral
Málu Balona
ABSTRACT: At the most important curves
of its evolutionary spiral, humanity is influenced by retrogressive
movements and reviviscence of the past. This apparent nostalgia
or longing for the past - revival - is not always negative.
In some rare occasions, this revival grants the historical
rescue of extemporaneous leading-edge ideas, which were not
understood at their own time, and functions today as a kind
of newly revised edition. However, retrograde fads more commonly
appear in mimetic cycles of specific influence on individual
and group behavior amongst the most diverse social fields,
such as: the scientific, mystical, philosophical, religious,
artistic, educational and entertainment fields.
Every now and then, the Arts, Fashion,
and Architecture reflect very explicitly movements of revivification
of history. Based on the cosmogram, a conscientiological technique,
the purpose of this research is to analyze the consciential
performance within the historical revivalism, presenting the
following hypothesis:
At every critical turn of a historical
period, characterized by a change of the evolutionary plateau
in the planet, revivalistic movements occur to a greater or
lesser degree as a review of previous periods. This collective
evocation has different degrees of importance and is part
of the extraphysical reurbanization process, contributing
to dilute the materthosene of old periods (still compatible
to the majority of consciousnesses) and implementing
a new and more evolved consciential materthosene.
do passado.
e do lazer.
Fundamentada
na técnica conscienciológica do cosmograma,
essa pesquisa visa analisar o desempenho consciencial no revivalismo
histórico, apresentando a hipótese assim elaborada:

The Pineal Gland: Physical or Multidimensional?
Brooke Gordon
ABSTRACT: This article discusses the many
functions and attributes of the pineal gland structure, with
the purpose of proving that it serves as a link between the
physical and extraphysical dimensions. Experience has shown
us that we are multidimensional consciousnesses manifesting
in temporary physical vehicles. By more fully understanding
the functions of the physical body, it then becomes easier
to understand its emotional, mental, energetic and psychic
connections more clearly. It’s important to study how
the various bodies of the holosoma interact, as well as the
many influences they have on one another. Studying the pineal
gland is just one step in pursuit of that knowledge.
RESUMO: Este artigo discute as muitas
e a extrafísica. A experiência evidencia que
somos consciências multidimensionais que se manifestam
em veículos físicos temporários. Compreendendo
Estudar a glândula pineal é

OUT-OF-BODY EXPERIENCES - HOW TO HAVE THEM AND WHAT TO EXPECT, by Robert Peterson. Hampton Roads Pub Co.; ISBN: 1571740570; 1997; 224 pp.; US$12.00.
This review takes a closer look at the book “Out-of-Body Experiences- How to Have Them and What To Expect” by Robert Peterson. The writer is a skeptical computer programmer who starts to believe in out-of-body experiences when he is awakened during the night by strange sensations and noises. He describes a loud, high-pitched humming inside his head (the common intracranial sounds experienced during an OBE), and a physical sensation of turmoil, which can be made analogous to the vibrational state. Peterson always described himself as a “normal” person until he began to have these experiences. He notices a heightened sense of knowledge and calmness taking over him as these experiences progress, and as the psychic phenomena occurring to him increase, he begins to dismiss the coincidences. Soon, however, as he experiments more and more with his OBE’s, he grows to accept his newly acquired “gift” and continues on with his life purpose. Since Peterson is a computer programmer, he faces the dilemma of challenging the conventional beliefs of modern science and physics. He attempts to reconcile these sciences with what he is experiencing, making the book a logical, step-by-step account of his experiences supplemented with clear and helpful exercises to induce an OBE.
His exercises focus on getting the person to first believe they are capable of leaving the body, since if there is doubt, it will be harder to do so. He also suggests visualization as to allow the person to “see” themselves leaving in various different methods. There are also several techniques that may work for different people, as the perspective that works for one person may not work for another. The idea here is to imagine the sensations of leaving the body, and soon after one becomes accustomed to the expected sensations, they will have less trouble in leaving, since they are more accustomed to not being constrained by the soma. He combines relaxation techniques with visualization, and stresses the importance of having a clear mind; if thoughts are plaguing one before he goes to bed, it will be harder for the person to concentrate on the exercise and to keep the mind from wandering.
One suggestion he makes is to have a “Pretend Day”, in which you imagine your body as being separate from your soul. For example, every time you sit down in a chair, you imagine your psychosoma falling through the chair and onto the floor. This is useful in that you stress the notion of the soma and psychosoma (or physical and astral body) being separate entities; moreover, this also works in another way. By using the saturation method (constantly thinking and reading about leaving the body until you also dream about it and unconsciously think about it) one is more prone to OBE’s and other metaphysical phenomena.
Other exercises include visualizing flying over cliffs and over the ocean. He also suggests one imagine vibrations throughout one’s body. One should also try to hear and see the vibrations. In another exercise he mentions visualizing a yo-yo in front of you. Watch the yo-yo move up and down slowly, and eventually get it moving faster and faster. The reason I am mentioning these two exercises together is that if you have trouble inducing the vibrational state by moving energies up and down, from the toes to the head, and feeling them travel all throughout the physical body, the yo-yo exercise could help. First of all, by visualizing the yo-yo one is focusing on the exercise and forgetting all about the physical body while in a relaxed state. Second, by concentrating on the up and down motion of the yo-yo, you are unconsciously moving your energies up and down. (I fell asleep while doing this exercise and woke up in a mild vibrational state.) Third, this exercise helps in dislocating the psychosoma from the soma.
The hypnagogic state, the stage which occurs at the beginning of the sleep cycle before one is going to sleep, and the hypnopompic state, the phase at the end of the sleep cycle when one is waking up, are excellent times when OBE’s are prone to occur naturally. While in one of these stages, when you are half asleep and have trouble distinguishing dream from reality, it is good to experiment with the various exercises, since you are most relaxed at this state and less inclined to be restricted by the physical body. The mind is very flexible at this stage. Practice visualizing that you are falling into a well. Imagine the psychosoma is falling backwards out of your body. Or imagine that you are at the bottom of a hole and the hole is slowly being filled with water. Imagine your psychosoma is slowly rising and rising and you are getting near the top. All of these kinds of images involve the thought of the psychosoma being moved in a certain direction, away from the physical body, loosening your energies and possibly inducing and out-of-body experience.
The author talks about possible intracranial noises one may hear during astral projections. In order to aid the projections, he suggests you imagine these noises such as the buzzing. Imagine the noise starting off low and begin to get louder and louder. He then suggests you imagine vibrations that go along with the buzzing (to induce a vibrational state). He suggests the same exercise with the loud pitch whining noise. “This can cause vibrations to sweep in and free you from your body (pg. 222).” He mentions that a friend suggested that if you imagine music, and you follow the music for a long enough time, it poses the same effects as the buzzing or whining noises. Other exercises to try are the ocean ones: imagine you are a surfer in the water and your body is being pulled by the current. Or that you are the bow of a ship and you are being lowered and lifted by waves.
The most important thing is to believe anyone can do these exercises with results. The next important thing is practice. At first, the results are not immediate. He says it took him two years or so to become a regular projector. In addition, results are not the same for everyone. However, there are benefits. He speaks of an increase in psychic ability, such as clairvoyance and ability to feel energies and evaluate certain situations with more accuracy. So, if out-of-body experiences were not enough of a benefit, your overall perceptions and understanding of your surroundings will benefit as well. He notes that he is more relaxed and focused on his life task and fewer things worry or frustrate him now. Peterson wrote the book in hopes of informing skeptics like he once was that there is something else that is attainable to everyone that is beneficial for one’s overall well-being. With the personal accounts of the experiences along with the step-by-step exercises that follow every chapter, this is a very informative guide to how to leave the body.
